Santa Fe de Antioquia is the former capital of the department and one of the most iconic colonial destinations in Colombia. Just 1.5 hours from Medellín through the Túnel de Occidente, it offers warm weather, history and enchanting architecture. The Puente de Occidente over the Cauca River is its main landmark, a 19th-century engineering masterpiece declared a National Monument. Its colonial stone streets, white houses with wooden balconies and the Cathedral Basílica de la Inmaculada Concepción transport visitors to another era. Santa Fe is famous for sun day plans: hotels and farms with pools where you can spend a day of rest under the Antioquia sun. It also offers historical tours, museum visits and local cuisine featuring tamarind, traditional sweets and paisa food. Accommodation ranges from colonial guesthouses and boutique hotels to country farms with pools. Ideal for couples, families and weekend getaways.
